The only organization supporting private healthcare providers in Romania

PALMED Objectives

The Association of Private Healthcare Providers (PALMED) has been the main national voice for lobbying and advocacy since its establishment in 2007. It is the main promoter supporting private healthcare providers in Romania and patients’ right to quality healthcare at an affordable price.

PALMED members are significant players in the local market and, implicitly, in the national economy. Members have significant geographical coverage through their own locations and partner clinics, with a market share of 26% in 2019.

PALMED’s objectives are focused on both members and patients. Thus, among the most important objectives we find:

promoting fair competition among private healthcare providers;
ensuring rapid access for patients to medical services, with a fair quality-price ratio.

Promoting Competition

We promote fair competition, within the law, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for each of our members.

Lobbying and Advocacy Coordination

We act as the main coordinator and lobby entity for supporting private services in Romania.

Cooperation and Communication

Initiating, supporting, and maintaining an environment of consultation, cooperation, and communication with authorities, medical and professional organizations, the media, communities of interest, and the general public in order to promote and protect the interests of PALMED members.

Development of legislative measures

We contribute to the overall improvement of the Romanian healthcare system and related legislation by developing and promoting new legislative measures, best practices, procedures, innovative methods, and other relevant information among our members, medical staff, authorities, and patients.

Information and Counseling

Providing information and advisory services to members and authorities to facilitate good governance and accountability of state bodies.

Patient Care

Reassuring patients that they are empowered to make personal choices and have quick access to healthcare services with a fair price-quality ratio.

Protecting Members' Objectives

Protecting and promoting the common goals of members, while ensuring a competitive environment and individualized medical services of high quality that meet the needs and preferences of patients.
